It is with great pleasure to announce that the Cave Springs Camp board of directors has voted to proceed with the construction of Legacy Hall, beginning in September of 2018. The vote has come after many years of diligent planning, prayer and hard work towards making the future of Cave Springs Camp possible.
The new build has been broken into 4 phases; phase 1 is the physical foundation and footing for the building, phase 2 is the outer shell (framing, windows, doors, siding, roof etc.), phase 3 is the inner build (insulation, electrical, finishing’s, etc.), and phase 4 would be all that is left (furnishings, site remediation, demolition of old buildings etc.).
This phasing has allowed us to see that we currently believe that we will be able to complete phase 1 and phase 2 debt free and the vote is to proceed with those two phases at this time. Phase 3 and phase 4 will still require additional fundraising, for which we have significant grant applications in process and our capital campaign is still in full force, dedicated to raising the $1.3 million still required. The total campaign is 2.4 million, of which over $1.1 million has been raised to-date and the donations and pledges continue to grow. We will then at the necessary time, this fall, be reconvening to deliberate over the progress of the build and fundraising in hopes to be able to give a green light to phase 3 and 4. This timeline, barring any setbacks, would have camp ready to go for the 2019 summer season, and possibly spring season.
None of this could have happened without the countless volunteers, committee members and, congregations and partners that have offered support. We want to acknowledge every one that has played a role in this as we have learned it really takes a community to make a project like this possible.
We aren’t done yet! Despite this monumental decision there is still much work to be done, and our committees and board are still working hard to finish the job.
